Kerala Backwaters | 4 Days

A world of serenity. The coastal regions of Kerala have a network of waterways, inlets from the sea, and estuaries of over forty rivers, lakes and natural canals connecting coastal towns. You can travel on these waterways on a traditional houseboat and enjoy the scenic beauty of the backwaters in Kerala, while on Kerala tours with Kerala Backwater. Lake Vembanad is world famous for its aquatic treasure of Karimeen (pearl spotted fish), shrimps and prawns. The cooks here have capitalized on this treasure.

    • Pardesi Synagogue: The oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth, located in the heart of Jew Town, Cochin.

    • Mattancherry Palace: Also known as the Dutch Palace, this museum showcases Kerala’s rich history through murals and artefacts.
       

  • Kumarakom:
     

    • Backwaters & Houseboat: Explore the tranquil backwaters of Kerala aboard a traditional houseboat, gliding through the scenic Vembanad Lake and witnessing the beauty of Kumarakom's natural surroundings.

Day Itinerary:
 

Day 1: Delhi to Cochin
 

  • Morning:

    • Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cochin.
       

  • Afternoon:

    • Arrive in Cochin and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

    • Enjoy an afternoon of sightseeing, and exploring Cochin's rich cultural heritage.
       

  • 06:30 PM:

    • Attend a traditional Kathakali Dance performance, showcasing Kerala's classical dance form.
       

  • Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Cochin to Kumarakom
 

  • 09:00 AM:

    • After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Kumarakom (90 km, approx. 2-hour drive).
       

  • 12:00 PM:

    • Arrive in Kumarakom and check into your hotel.

    • The rest of the day is free for leisure, allowing you to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.
       

  • Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Kumarakom to Backwater Houseboat
 

  • 09:00 AM:

    • After breakfast, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where you can spot a variety of exotic bird species.
       

  • 12:00 PM:

    • Transfer to Vembanad Lake for a tranquil backwater cruise. Enjoy lunch and dinner on board as you glide through Kerala's scenic backwaters.
       

  • Overnight stay on a traditional houseboat.

Day 4: Alleppey to Cochin / Departure
 

  • 10:30 AM:

    • After breakfast on board, disembark at Alleppey and drive to Cochin (65 km, approx. 1.5-hour drive).
       

    • Upon arrival in Cochin, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Delhi.
